The Glorious Florals of Dior

A walk thru time.

atelier. museum. runway.

The 1940's "Flower Women" of Christian Dior: A fashion revolution using an abundance of fabric cinched tightly at the waist, creating his unmistakable silhouette that personified post-war elegance and women of success.

Then layers of embellishments were introduced; inspired from english gardens to royal objet d'art. Every collection incorporates essences of flowers either with a matching head piece, silk and velvet fabric roses, bold floral prints and sheer overlayed embroidered fabric.

To finish the allure, a dab of fresh out of the bottle Dior fragrance richly crafted with various floral notes to indulge the senses.

That floral idea, deconstructed, found its way into the new autumn/winter 2012-2013 Haute Couture collection, as the designer known for minimalism used dramatic color and delicate workmanship to revive Dior's vision.

In 2020 The French fashion house Dior tried eco-printing, and used real dried flowers as dyes for some of the dresses. The result was a selection of pastoral, floating ensembles, where rural details merged together the essence of Dior.
